A successful backup job is not proof that the organization can resume operations. Recovery exercises must validate data integrity, identity services, application dependencies, network access, timing and decision ownership.
Test the business process
Define recovery objectives, isolate a representative environment and rehearse the sequence from incident declaration to restored service. Record gaps and retest corrective actions.
